Stone Selection Procedure
Choosing natural stone for your granite countertops, as simple as it may seem, has several considerations to keep in mind. Some granite without color variations could be selected from very small samples . Others need to be viewed fully due to slight shade variations. Although variations give granite its natural beauty, these same variations could cause disenchantment if you're looking for something that is going to be exactly the same throughout every piece. Before making a final selection on natural stone, be prepared to accept its earthly beauty along with its natural variance.
The next choice is Edge Profiles. Granite comes with several industry standard edges such as full bullnose, half bullnose, double bullnose, straight edge, ogee edge or beveled edge. The selection of the edge will help determine the proper overhang to give your counter tops.
Granite slabs are approximately 108"-128" long and 56"-72" high by 1 1/4" thick (3cm) or 3/4" thick (2CM). Countertop parts that are bigger than this must be seamed. The average kitchen countertop has one or more seams. A colored epoxy or silicone is normally used to fill countertop seams, but due to granite's natural shade variations the seams are not always 100% invisible.
The final step in selecting your countertop requires the selection of your sink, faucet, surface unit and any other appliances that will affect your countertop. You will need this information for pricing, ordering, templating and final delivery.
Stone Ordering Procedure
Once all your selections have been made, Alpha Granite can proceed to price out your job. To get a quote for your countertop, you will need a layout print (plan view) to know the exact square footage of countertop surface, the linear footage of edge that will be profiled, amount of polished or unpolished cutouts and any type of customizing such as large radiuses, Corbelled corners, or bump outs. Also the stone name (if known) and personal information including the job address, contact information, and any other details that will help us determine the quote of the job. Please Note: All estimates are based on the dimensions provided to us.
In order to place an order with our company, we require you to have the following steps complete in your home.
-Cabinets need to be installed.
-All of the appliances in the kitchen need to be on location. That includes the stove, dishwasher, fridge etc.
-The sink needs to be on location so that we may take it back to the shop and use it as a template for the sink cutout.
-If you have a current countertop on your cabinets, please make sure it is removed and the sink and cooktop is detached before we come out and template. Please note that we do not specialize in plumbing and electricity.
If you match all of the above mentioned criteria you can give us a call and we can go out to template your kitchen. At the end of the template we require a 50% deposit based on the estimate price.
The final price will be confirmed based on the measurements taken on the job. Also we will verify the stone and the edge selected. At this point we need your okay to fabricate your counter.
Stone Receiving Procedure
Alpha Granite, Inc. maintains a two week lead time for most granite countertop orders. Please note that out of stock items or special ordered items could take longer. If there are undecided issues with your order such as sinks, faucets or other appliance not being selected, the job cannot be started.
The last and final step is the installation. Before we finish the job we require the final payment. This payment is due no later than on the day of the installation. On the job we will install the countertop and seam it if necessary. Last, we will drill the faucet holes and attach the sink.
